Eclectic Community
This one-of-a-kind town was named after Charles Louis Fleischmann of the Fleischmann Company, which was famous for its yeast and whiskey. When he came to town in the early 1800s, he turned Fleischmanns (then called Griffin Corners) into a summer colony for wealthy aristocrats. Once upon a time, a number of grand hotels opened their doors to an influx of vacationers, and the train from the city pulled right into Fleischmanns, where it was met by a marching band in uniform.
